We understand that there are some individuals with medical conditions which prevent them from safely receiving a booster or the primary series of vaccination against COVID-19. For our next tentative health update, therefore, we have decided we will accept some medical exemptions.

In order to maintain herd immunity and promote safety during the ongoing pandemic, we may not be able to accommodate all requests, but we shall attempt to do so in the interests of equity.

Qualifying for a medical exemption shall be a multi-step process.

Step One:

Please submit the form below, one for each person needing an exemption. You do NOT need to disclose any private medical information.

Name as it appears on your ID
This is what we will call you in all correspondence unless asked otherwise.
Press “Yes” to begin the process. If approved, we may ask for additional information such as a doctor’s note recommending against COVID-19 vaccination. We will NOT ask for private medical information.
Anything else you would like to mention. You do NOT need to disclose any private medical information.

Once your form is submitted, your request will be reviewed. Exemption requests must be sent by April 1st. At-con exemption requests will not be granted.

Step Two:

Before your request is approved, we may ask for additional information such as a doctor’s note. A doctor’s note should have:

  • A name matching your photo ID
  • The doctor’s name and phone number
  • A recommendation against receiving COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters.

You do NOT need to disclose any private medical information as part of this.

Step Three:

Once we have all required information for an approval and issue an approval, we will make a note on your ConCat account that you are exempt. Only registration staff – who sign an NDA due to the personal information they handle – can see this note.

Once approval has been received and a note made, we will destroy any information we requested.

Step Four:

At-con, you will go to Customer Service instead of vaccine check. You must present two pieces of documentation:

  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken April 11th or later. PCR tests only.
  • The COVID-19 waiver all attendees must sign.

Here, we will verify your exemption and issue you your badge.

Step Five:

We will retain the note on your account for the duration of the convention (in case you lose your badge and need to have a new one reprinted), but will destroy it after the convention.

Attempting to defraud the medical exemption process is punishable by a lifetime ban from LVFC and other SNAE events.
